2023-2024 Tuition Fundraising Opportunities

Dear PYS Parents and Students, September 2023

We wish to commend you for pursuing quality music instruction by participating in the Pinellas Youth Symphony. We recognize that it takes an extraordinary amount of time and effort on the part of both parents and students to attend weekly rehearsals.

One fact that you may not be aware of is that student tuition covers less than 35% of the expenses of PYS. In order to keep the tuition affordable for most families, the remainder funding must come from other sources, such as fundraisers, tickets sales from performances, grants and donations. The Board of Directors (mostly comprised of parent volunteers) is working to raise these funds, but they need your help. We have developed several programs for this purpose.

Listed below are opportunities in which families can raise funds to help defray the cost of their child’s tuition and at the same time help raise funds for PYS. Your family can……

Work a weekly job assignment (when available), in which a parent volunteer is assigned a specific job to work at each rehearsal throughout the season. Work jobs can include manning the front entrance information or check-in tables, being a room parent or hall monitor. Consistent, weekly job attendance at rehearsals will result in a one-time $50 family tuition credit for the season.

Solicit tax-deductible contribution(s) from sources outside your immediate family (use the Adopt-A-Student form).

Please Note: Soliciting donations using the Adopt-A-Student form is posted on the PYS website and also available at the information table each rehearsal.

Be sure to include the name of the PYS student on the solicitation form so the appropriate credit can be given!
