Note 1: | The Advanced Bassists should be aware that pieces might be programmed with a Bass part that switches into and out of Tenor Clef. |
Note 2: | The Advanced Bassoonists should expect at least some of their music to be in Tenor Clef. |
Note 3: | The Advanced Cellists should expect at least some of their music to be in Tenor Clef. |
Note 4: | The Advanced Clarinetists should expect pieces to be programmed which call for Clarinet in A rather than Bb. Eb Clarinet and C Clarinet parts are rare, but we do occasionally play pieces that call for them. |
Note 5: | The Harp makes a wonderful addition to an orchestra. The Advanced Orchestra has Harp parts in some but not all of the the pieces they play, but those Harp parts truly are Advanced. The music played in the Intermediate Orchestra rarely includes Harp parts, but we will try try to find a way for a diligent Intermediate Harpist to participate. The music in Symphonic Strings lacks Harp parts, but often has keyboard parts which can be played on a Harp, and we can also use a pre-Intermediate Harpist to cover a Bass or Cello part in this orchestra. |
Note 6: | Advanced Horn players should anticipate that pieces might be programmed with parts written for Horns pitched in keys other than F (Bb,C,D,E,..), which will provide opportunities for them to practice their sight-transposition skills. |
Note 7: | The Advanced Oboists should anticipate that pieces might be programmed where an English Horn is called for either as a combo Oboe2/EngHn part or as a separate part. |
Note 8: | The Advanced Tenor Trombonists expect that pieces will be programmed with Trombone parts in Tenor Clef, and possibly even Alto Clef, although many will be in Bass Clef. |
Note 9: | Advanced Trumpeters should anticipate that pieces might be programmed with parts written for Trumpets pitched in keys other than Bb (C,D,E,F,...), which will provide opportunities for them to practice their sight-transposition skills. |
Note 10: | Advanced Violists occasionally will find their part written in Treble Clef, rather than the Alto Clef more typical for Viola parts. |
